Mamelodi Sundowns have dropped a major hint that they have signed eight-time Olympic gold medallist Usain Bolt.

The Brazilians are seen as favourites to sign the Jamaican track legend after he enjoyed a trail with the club a few weeks ago during his visit to South Africa.

He linked up with the Pretoria-based side back in January, as part of a marketing campaign by sporting giants Puma, who sponsors both him and Sundowns.

Bolt tweeted on Sunday to confirm he had agreed a deal with a football team and would be making a further announcement at 08:00 GMT (10:00 SA time) on Tuesday.

Sundowns went on to retweet his post and followed up with a major hint that the Absa Premiership log leaders are the front runners to sign the 31-year-old.

Bolt called time on his decorated athletics career last summer, having won eight Olympic gold medals while hooding world record times for the 100m and 200m.

The 31-year-old expressed his desire to start his football career after retiring from the track and said his ideal destination would be Manchester United. He has also recently offered his services to David Beckham’s new Major League Soccer franchise, Futbol Miami.
