Al Ahly team doctor Ahmed Abu Abla has officially confirmed that head coach Pitso Mosimane tested positive for Covid-19 ahead of the Fifa Club World Cup.

Mosimane is now expected to miss Ahly’s Club World Cup opener against Mexico outfit Monterrey in their knockout clash on Saturday evening at the Al Nahyan Stadium in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

The Ahly mentor tested positive for coronavirus on Tuesday before a  new test on Wednesday confirmed the first result.

The Ahly team doctor confirmed that Mosimane is self-isolating, with his condition stable and not showing any symptoms.

The official statement from the Red Devils read:

“Ahmed Abu Abla, the team’s doctor, stated that Pitso Mosimane, Al Ahly head coach, tested positive for Covid-19.

“Abu Abla said that Mosimane underwent another Covid-19 test today.

“The team’s doctor added that our coach’s condition is stable and he is currently self-isolated.”
