Ajax Cape Town have confirmed that they have mutually agreed to terminate Dutch coach Stanley Menzo’s contract with the club currently experiencing a string of disappointing results since taking over the reins.

The Ajax Amsterdam legend was appointed in October 2016 and was tasked with guiding the side past their relegation woes, however more than a year later, Menzo has failed to successfully do so.

Now following a number of inconsistent performances and poor results, the Mother City-based outfit have shown the Dutch mentor the door.

‘I think that a coaching change is possibly the best for the club right now as we get to the critical part of the season,’ Menzo told the club’s official website.

‘I would also like to thank the club for the opportunity that was given to me and to also thank all the staff and players who always supported me.

‘A special mention to the fans for their great support even at times when things were really not going well. I wish the club the best for the remainder of the season,’ he concluded.

Menzo’s leaves the club after 40 matches played, with 12 wins, 11 draws and 17 losses under the belt. Ajax’s board are set to announce the club’s successor within the next few days.
