Mamelodi Sundowns made light work of Polokwane City to advance to the last eight of the 2016 TKO.

Rise and Shine failed to take advantage of Sundowns’ African travels as neither side created much in the way of chances in the first half.

The match burst to life following the second-half introduction of Khama Billiat, with the Zimbabwean immediately causing trouble in the final third.

The continental champions made the breakthrough when Hlompho Kekana capped off a slick team move to open the scoring in the 64th minute.

Six minutes later substitute Themba Zwane made it two to all but end the contest.

Despite a disjointed performance, coach Pitso Mosimane will be pleased with how his side dealt with the threat of Rise and Shine in a week full of celebrations and little time to focus on on-field action.
