Kaizer Chiefs will welcome AmaZulu to the Moses Mabhida Stadium when the two sides meet in the Telkom Knockout Cup on Saturday.

This will be the third meeting between Kaizer Chiefs and AmaZulu in the Telkom Knockout competition since the formation of the National Soccer League in 1985.

One of those was the final in 1992, with AmaZulu securing a 3-1 victory. The second was in the first round in 2010 as Chiefs triumphed 2-0.

In all 57 matches between the sides since 1985, Chiefs have won 37, and AmaZulu just eight, with 12 draws. Chiefs have outscored their opponents 105-44.

AmaZulu’s last victory over Chiefs was in March 2007 when they won 2-1. There have been 17 matches since then, with Chiefs winning 13 and drawing four.

Chiefs have won four of the five cup games between the two, their only blemish that 1992 Coca-Cola Cup final.

Chiefs are the most successful side in the history of the Telkom Knockout competition, with 13 wins from 17 final appearances. They have not won the trophy since the 2010-11 season though.

The last six Telkom Knockout tournaments for Chiefs have seen two first-round exits, two quarterfinal losses, a semifinal defeat and a loss in the final in 2015 to Mamelodi Sundowns.

Chiefs have played a total of 67 matches in the Telkom Knockout in the PSL era, winning 38 of those to go with 16 draws and 13 defeats. They have scored 103 goals in that time and conceded 60.

No teams have more wins in the competition than Chiefs, and only Orlando Pirates (109) have scored more goals.

Chiefs have won none of their last four Telkom Knockout matches outright, with three draws and a defeat in that time. Of those penalty shoot-outs, they won two and lost the other.

AmaZulu have played a total of 28 matches in the Telkom Knockout in the PSL era, winning seven of those to go with five draws and 16 defeats. They have scored 26 goals in that time and conceded 37.

AmaZulu have been beaten by Mamelodi Sundowns in the quarterfinals of the competition in two of their last three showings.

Kick-off has been set for 20:15.
