Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane believes his side played at a ‘high level’ against a Bloemfontein Celtic side, who plays ‘top-level football’ under coach Steve Komphela.

A goal from Gaston Sirino proved to be the difference as the Brazilians advanced to the quarter-final after claiming a 1-0 victory over Celtic at the Lucas Moripe Stadium in the round of 16.

Mosimane believes their experience playing in the Caf Champions League proved worthy vauleble during their clash against Steve Komphela’s outfit, who he believed played a ‘top level of football’.

‘High level game hey. For me with the experience of being in the [Caf] Champions League for so many years, this is a Champions League game,’ Mosimane told SuperSport TV after the game.

‘This was high level football. Not many teams can bypass our pressing. We tried to press. We tried to deal with [Lantshene] Phalane and the number 4 [Kabelo Dlamini]. To deal with [Ronald] Pfumbidzai as a left back [wing back] was not easy. And they are not afraid, they are pushing [high]. Unbelievable.

‘Steve [Komphela] plays good football, it’s good to see football being played like this by local coaches. It’s top level football.’
