Mamelodi Sundowns have dethroned Orlando Pirates as MTN8 champions after defeating the Buccaneers in the final at Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban.

The Brazilians ended Pirates’ reign as defending champions following their 2-0 victory through goals from Teboho Mokoena and Iqraam Rayners.

Sundowns ended their four-year wait for the top-eight trophy, while handing Miguel Cardoso his first MTN8 trophy, a trophy that has been elusive for Sundowns since 2021.
