Kaizer Chiefs captain Brandon Petersen says his side are determined to make up for lost time in the MTN8 after missing out on the competition for the past two seasons.

The Glamour Boys got their 2026-27 campaign off to a great start following their 3-1 win over newly promoted side Kruger United last weekend.

Amakhosi will now turn their attention to the MTN8 when they face Golden Arrows at the FNB Stadium on Sunday evening.

Petersen says his side are highly motivated to challenge for the trophy and believes the club belongs among the contenders every year.

“It has been a while since we have been in the MTN8 so obviously, I am very happy,” Petersen told his club’s official website.

“We missed out the past two seasons which is something that we don’t want to experience again and we are excited to be back in it.

“Kaizer Chiefs should be competing for this trophy every season and I think our absence has given us extra motivation to do well this time. We are looking to hit the ground running and hopefully go all the way.”
