Kaizer Chiefs football manager Bobby Motaung has admitted that the club haven’t discussed the possibility of parting ways with coach Ernst Middendorp, adding that suggestions in the media are just rumours.

Middendorp came to Chiefs at the back end of last season and was able to steady things after the turmoil under Giovanni Solinas.

This campaign he has won multiple Coach of the Month awards as Chiefs have almost constantly sat atop the league table.

Amakhosi are now four points clear of Mamelodi Sundowns, who have a game in hand, as they prepare for the return of football on 8 August following the coronavirus suspension.

Chiefs have the chance to end their five-year trophy drought but still reports around Middendorp’s future have continue to surface.

Motaung, though, insists that no discussions around the coach’s future have taken place.

‘Unfortunately we’ve not even had that discussion as a club‚’ Motaung told TimesLIVE.

“So it’s rumours that you find and talk which is out there‚ which we don’t know of.

‘So, at this moment I don’t want to entertain the coach’s issues because there is nothing – we have never had a discussion. We have not sat down and discussed his future.

‘The coach has a contract‚ he still has one more season to go. And we have not even sat down to say “The coach must leave” or anything.

‘And we don’t know anything. These are just rumour and rumours. We don’t know anything. We have not had those discussions.’
