Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane believes his side’s fatigue was the reason for their 3-0 drumming at the hands of Bidvest Wits in the MTN8 final.

Sundowns got off to the worst possible star in the tie as Daine Klate handed Wits the lead after less than a minute. Eleazar Rodgers then got in on the act as he put the side 2-0 up before Downs were caught on the counter to conceded a third in the second-half as Klate sealed a brace.

Mosimane, who had been confident going into the tie, admitted he was disappointed at the result but nevertheless insists his and his side’s prime focus remains the  Caf Champions League final, the first leg of which is in two weeks time/

‘You saw it against Zesco, we showing that we are running out of steam a little bit. A little bit in some of occasions, the second balls, but that’s not an excuse,’ Mosimane told KickOff.

‘I said even before we won against Chippa United, playing against well-rested teams, it’s a challenge to lift the team up,’ he added.

Mosimane insists his side will not be shaken by the defeat and that victory in the continental showpiece would overshadow the dissapointment of the cup loss.

‘Maybe we win tonight [Saturday] and don’t win the Champions League. I will swap that because the MTN8 will come back again every year. The other one comes once in a while. It takes many years to go for it,’ he the coach concluded.

The first match in the two-legged Caf Champions final will be played on October 21.

Kick-off at the Cairo International Stadium has yet to be confirmed.
