Mamelodi Sundowns coach Rulani Mokwena admits that “teamwork” has been the key to their success and consistency in the DStv Premiership this season.

The Brazilians are currently on a six-game winning run in the league following their comfortable 3-0 victory over Royal AM through goals from Neo Maema, Cassius Mailula and Surprise Ralani at the Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium on September 29.

Sundowns occupies the top spot in the league standings with 28 points, having won nine, drawn one and only conceded two defeats in 12 matches.

Mokwena insists the formula to their success has been their cohesiveness with the team and technical team after collecting 18 points and scoring 13 goals in the past six matches.

“Teamwork has led us to be consistent in the league. No one is bigger than this football club, we’re just trying to serve it.

“When you are servants you forget a lot about yourself and the results. You continue to serve and that’s what we try to do as the technical team and as pure football servants.

“We live, eat and breathe this game and try to do the best we can for this football club.

“This game belongs to football players and the game is about the football players. I would like to give an Incredible salute and appreciation to the incredible group of footballers at Mamelodi Sundowns.”
