For Kaizer Chiefs coach Steve Komphela his side looked disciplined despite going a man down early on against Cape Town City on Tuesday night.

The Glamour Boys took the lead as early as the third minute through a goal by Michelle Katsvairo, before substitute Matt Sims scored a 53rd-minute equaliser to force a 1-1 draw at the FNB Stadium.

The 49-year-old coach believes his side remained focused and disciplined, despite the dismissal of Sibusiso Khumalo in the 28th minute after his return from injury.

‘Up until we got red-carded it looked like we were on point, and even with the red card there were instances where you have to be opportunistic when you get those chances,’ Komphela said after the match.

‘The essence of playing with one man down is staying very disciplined and very strong mentally, which I thought, to an extent, we did but obviously as time goes the legs start giving [in] and you could see.

‘Result, not that happy. Performance and commitment, you feel the players tried their best. We have to keep moving on without too many complaints.’

Kaizer Chiefs will travel to the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium to take on Chippa United in the Absa Premiership on Saturday.

Kick-off is scheduled for 18:00.
