Cape Town City have sold Colombian winger Juan Zapata back to his old club Hermanos Comenarez in Venezuela and freed up a spot among their foreign players for the second of the season to allow for the return of centre back Nathan Fasika.

Zapata return to South America after one year at city in which he scored a single goal. It came in his second appearance and promised much for City but he disappointed with his performances after that, in the end making 17 league and cup starts.

Fasika returns after a one year out recovering from a serious knee injury. City did not register him for the league while he was out, but kept him on their books while he recovered in order to re-sign him and for the second half of the season.

Fasika will come in handy in central defence after the departure of Taariq Fielies earlier this season to AmaZulu.

City are in second place in the DStv Premiership standings after they won the last game of 2023 by beating Cape Town Spurs 2-0 in their derby clash.
