Matchday two at the 2018 Fifa World Cup served up some entertainment of the highest order and fans across the globe can certainly expect it to continue as we head into matchday three, writes DEAN WORKMAN.

1 Nigeria to stun Argentina
All is not right in the Argentine camp at the moment. After an embarrassing 3-0 loss at the hands of Croatia, there has been talk of a rift between the players and coach Jorge Sampaoli as La Albiceleste face a possible group stage exit. Lionel Messi and Co will come up against a Super Eagles team which bounced back from their opening game loss to Croatia to beat Iceland 2-0 in an impressive performance. The African team will now battle against the South Americans for a spot in the knockout stages and while Argentina are still favourites to win and progress, Gernot Rohr’s young team could just provide one of the great World Cup shocks and knock out the two-time champions.

2 Kane and Lukaku to continue scoring
England and Belgium face up in their final Group G clash with both sides having already secured a spot in the last-16. Both teams have made impressive starts and their star strikers in red-hot scoring form as they look to edge each other out for the top spot in the group. Harry Kane is currently leading the Golden Boot race after scoring five goals in the opening two games while Romelu Lukaku is tied with Cristiano Ronaldo after scoring four goals. Expect both men to go in search for more goals when they come head-to-head on Thursday.

3 Portugal and Spain to progress
After their opening game draw against each other, Spain and Portugal stand in pole position to progress after victories on matchday two. Portugal will face a well organised Iran side, who could also still progress with a victory, while Spain will face already eliminated Morocco. Expect both of these European giants to win their third games and seal a place in the knockout stages. Also, expect all the other big guns in Germany and Brazil to join the other top contenders in the knockout stages.

4 Hosts to continue winning start
Russia will come up against Uruguay in their last Group A clash on Monday with both sides having already qualified for the last-16. The hosts came into the tournament under immense pressure from local media outlets, but have responded in perfect fashion by scoring eight goals and winning both games, while Uruguay have been largely uninspiring winning both matches 1-0. Expect Russia to continue their good form by beating the South Americans, as they continue to ride the wave of World Cup euphoria that is sweeping the country.

5 Colombia to break Senegalese hearts
Colombia bounced back from their opening 2-1 loss to Japan, where they played the majority of the game with ten-men, by beating Poland 3-0 to keep their hope of progression alive. Senegal followed up their opening game win over Poland with a 2-2 draw with Japan. The Lions of Teranga now will face the South Americans knowing that a win would seal progression. Colombia, however, were so impressive against Poland that I can’t see past another victory for Jose Peckerman’s side against Senegal.
