Spain midfielder Mikel Merino admits he is living a dream as La Roja stand just two victories away from World Cup glory.

La Roja booked their place in the FIFA World Cup semi-finals with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Belgium at the SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California.

Spain will now face France in a blockbuster FIFA World Cup semi-final at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington on Tuesday.

“I’m thrilled. I doubt it will happen again. We’re two matches away from winning a World Cup,” Merino told FIFA.

“It’s a dream come true. Hopefully we can achieve it. Everyone is watching these matches.

“Being able to bring this joy is a source of pride. Against France, at this stage, we couldn’t expect anything less than an elite team.”
