Spain boss Luis de la Fuente says there is no cause for concern, despite his side’s frustrating goalless draw against Cape Verde.
The Spanish side were forced to share the spoils with debutants Cape Verde after playing out to a goalless draw in their Group H opener at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
The draw sees Spain occupy third place in the Group H standings with one point, while Cape Verde sit in fourth place with the same points after the first game.
The Spaniard admitted his team lacked their usual sharpness in front of goal but expressed confidence that Spain will improve as key players return and the World Cup progresses.
“We are completely calm, convinced that there is a long way to go. As we see it, we have seven games left,” said De la Fuente.
“We lacked freshness and precision.”
“Tomorrow I’ll bring up that magic number.
“We have to stick to our philosophy and get key players back that will play a crucial role as the tournament progresses.”
