Kaizer Chiefs defender Siyabonga Ngezana believes that his side have so far let their fans down this campaign, writes DEAN WORKMAN.

Amakhosi have fallen off the pace in the title race again this season. The Nedbank Cup remains their only hope of lifting silverware and ending the three-year trophy drought that has plagued the Soweto Giants.

Leading up to their semi-final clash against Free State Stars, Ngezana revealed that he believes his side have let down their fans up to this point of the campaign.

‘They [the fans] will always cry about inconsistency, the way we perform, we need to change and whatsoever. As we are professionals, we know our job and what needs to be done on the field.’

When asked if they have given the fans enough to be proud of this season, the Chiefs academy product said, ‘I think we have failed. We can check, even in the Absa Premiership and how we performed. We know that we weren’t consistent. There were points that we dropped that we know we could have done better.

‘We had many draws, if we can turn those draws into three points, I think we could have gone far. There is room for improvement for next season.’

Kaizer Chiefs will take on Free State Stars in the Nedbank Cup semi-finals at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday, with kick-off at 8:15pm.
