Rangers FC have confirmed the signing of South African defender Olwethu Makhanya from Philadelphia Union.
Makhanya joins the club from Major League Soccer side Philadelphia Union, where he scored three goals in 53 matches.
The 22-year-old arrives at the club after putting pen to paper on a four-year deal, with the option for an additional year.
The South African defender has described his move to Rangers FC as a dream come true after completing his transfer from Philadelphia Union.
“I can’t even explain how I am feeling right now, it is honestly a big honour and a huge blessing for me to joins such a big club with so much history. I can’t wait to get started,” Makhanya told his club’s official website.
“For me, it has always been a dream to play football in Europe, ever since I was a kid, so to be here is a dream come true.”
