Benni McCarthy believes Cape Town City’s brand of football is what sets them apart from other clubs, in addition to revealing how the club are turning Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates fans into Citizens supporters.

The Mother City outfit will do duty against the Amakhosi in an Absa Premiership clash at Cape Town Stadium on Saturday at 3pm. City coach McCarthy spoke about his team’s style of play at length, suggesting that it is what separates them from many other teams in the league.

McCarthy and his City outfit most recently garnered praise from Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane, whose side were eliminated in the MTN8 semi-final at the hands of City.

‘We are trying to grow and build a team,’ McCarthy told the media at a press conference in Cape Town.

‘People come because of the football they see‚ they know we can play. As much as you play good football and people like to see that‚ they also like to see that you have an end-product.

‘When we win games, we can turn Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates fans into Cape Town City fans because of the style of play we have.

‘We are good at playing from the back‚ keeping calm‚ keeping our composure. We do it every day [in training] until we get better and perfect it.

‘Now we have mastered that‚ we need to move a little bit forward where we have to finish off teams. Finish what we start with the good buildup,’ he concluded.

City will be hoping to register maximum points against Giovanni Solinas’ side, who languish three places from the bottom of the table after five games played.
