Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates will be looking to continue their impressive run of results as they battle for supremacy at the top of the table.

Currently at the summit of the Premiership standings, the Amakhosi will be seeking to extend their momentum when they welcome a visit from Ajax Cape Town to the FNB Stadium on Saturday.

Chiefs have hit form in recent weeks after making an indifferent start to the season and are presently on a three-match winning streak. The Urban Warriors, meanwhile, have struggled for fluency since parting ways with a host of first team regulars in the recent transfer window. The side currently sit in 13th position on the log and have taken just two points from four matches.

Ajax will, however, take heart from a respectable record against the Glamour Boys. The side has won one and lost two of the pair’s last five meetings, while both league fixtures between the sides last season ended in stalemates.

Siphiwe Tshabalala could be poised to make his long-awaited return to the Chiefs lineup for the clash, while Ajax could welcome back the return of the influential central defender Rivaldo Coetzee, who is close to regaining fitness following an injury of his own.

Pirates, who have a game in hand, will have to wait until Sunday before they take to the field against a competitive Polokwane City side. Muhsin Ertugral’s men have been in impressive form this season as they remain unbeaten in the Premiership. Polokwane, meanwhile, have made a positive start of their own and currently sit level on points with Pirates on a tally of eight.

Neither side has any significant injury struggles with to contend and Pirates will  be confident of continuing their positive start given their impressive record over Polokwane in recent seasons, having won three and drawn two of their last five matchups. The clash will take place at the Peter Mokaba Stadium.
