Kaizer Chiefs forward Asanele Velebayi says he is ‘a little bit nervous’ as he prepares to play in Egypt for the first time.

The 22-year-old joined Chiefs from Cape Town Spurs in August and he has only featured once for the Soweto giants so far this season.

The Glamour Boys have been drawn in Group D alongside the likes of Zamalek SC, Al Masry, and Zesco United FC.

Velebayi is relishing the chance to showcase his talent when they face Al Masry at the New Suez Stadium.

“Obviously, it’s a huge moment for me to be travelling in Africa, to Egypt, for the first time,” Velebayi told his club’s official website.

“We have watched some of the Egyptian league as part of our preparation so I am expecting a difficult game, but I am really looking forward to the challenge.

“To be honest, personally, I’m a little bit nervous but we have players who have experienced playing at this level before, whom I trust to share their knowledge of what to expect.

“For us, the first priority is not to concede any goals. That’s not to say we won’t try to win but keeping it tight at the back puts us in a better position to achieve a positive result.”
