Mamelodi Sundowns defender Grant Kekana has acknowledged the fans’ frustrations and stressed the need for the team to give extra effort.
The Brazilians are set to face MC Alger in their final CAF Champions League group stage clash at Loftus Versfeld Stadium on Friday.
Sundowns come into this match off the back of a 1-1 draw against Saint Eloi Lupopo, which took place at the Stade TP Mazembe in Lubumbashi.
Miguel Cardoso’s side currently sit in third place in Group D with six points after five matches.
Despite the disappointing results, Kekana insisted that the players’ commitment has never been in question, and confidence remains high that better days are ahead.
“We understand the fans’ frustrations, and they are obviously expecting better from us, and we also expect better from ourselves,” said Kekana.
“When I talk about bringing the team back, it’s about giving that extra 20 percent, and that’s what we’re working hard towards, and there will be a turnaround soon.
“I think results haven’t been coming our way, and it’s not from a lack of trying.
“It’s just about us doing more than what we have been doing, and that’s how we hold each other comfortable.”
