Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Miguel Cardoso has stressed that his side must approach this match with the right mentality and determination to achieve the result they need.

The Brazilians will be looking to secure their place in the semi-finals of the CAF Champions League when they take on Stade Malien in the second leg.

Sundowns come into this fixture with a three-goal advantage following their 3-0 victory at Loftus Versfeld Stadium last weekend.

Cardoso has emphasised the importance of total focus ahead of his side’s crucial upcoming clash, insisting the Brazilians will treat the encounter as a decisive opportunity to secure qualification for the next round.

“What is important is we are going to face this match like it was the only match to qualify us for the next round,” Cardoso told his club’s official website.

“We will not be focusing on the game we played in Pretoria.

“We have to fight for a result that will work for us. Obviously, we want to proceed to the next round, so we need to approach it in the best possible way.”

“Obviously the hosts have been doing well, especially at home. They had a strong and positive group stage, so we know they will be a tough opponent to play against.”
