Stellenbosch FC confirmed a triple signing of players ahead of the re-start of their Betway Premiership campaign against Sekhukhune, with one of them on target in the 1-0 win in Polokwane.

New coach Gavin Hunt has been able to welcome striker Tshegofatso Mabasa on loan from Orlando Pirates to the end of the season, and winger Kobamelo Kodisang from Mamelodi Sundowns, also on loan.

Stellenbosch have also snapped up free agent defender Mosa Lebusa, who left Sundowns earlier this month after seven years at Chloorkop.
Mabasa scored the winner against Sekhukhune, but neither Kodisang or Lebusa featured.

“Our club and new head coach are extremely pleased to bring in players of the calibre of Mabasa, Kodisang, and Lebusa, who we believe can play a significant role in helping us achieve our remaining targets for this season,” Stellenbosch CEO Rob Benadie said.

“These signings have arrived on short-term deals but represent a clear statement of our intent to improve this season, and we are confident that they possess the quality to make an immediate impact.

“They are players of an international standard, having all represented South Africa, and bring an ingrained winning mentality and understanding of what it takes to compete at the highest level.

“That can only benefit our squad as we continually seek to raise our own standards and compete both domestically and on the continent.”

Mabasa had fallen out of favour at Pirates and made only a handful of appearances this season, while Kodisang spent the first half of the campaign on loan at Portuguese side AVS, but was also barely used.
