Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Mduduzi Shabalala has spoken about his pride after reaching 100 appearances for the Soweto giants.

Vilakazi made his 100th appearance for Amakhosi when he came on as a second-half substitute in their 1-0 win over ZESCO United in the CAF Confederation Cup on Sunday.

The attacking midfielder will make his 103rd appearance when Amakhosi take on Stellenbosch FC in the opening round of the Nedbank Cup on Wednesday.

Shabalala admits that he was unaware that he was on verge of reaching this milestone for the club.

“I am so excited to reach this milestone. It hasn’t been an easy journey for me, a lot of ups and downs,” Vilakazi told his club’s official website.

“But I am very glad my 100th game came at a good moment for the team and I am hoping to reach more appearances for Amakhosi.

“Actually, I didn’t know I had reached my 100th appearance. I hadn’t really thought about it.

“But I am so grateful to the Chairman, the coaches for believing in me at such a young age and giving me the opportunity and the support.

“My ambition is to play many more times and score a lot of goals and win many trophies for this wonderful Club,” he said.
