Orlando Pirates have confirmed the signing for Marumo Gallants duo Daniel Msendami and Mpho Chabatsane ahead of the second half of the season.
Zimbabwe striker Msendami, 25, joins after playing for his country at the Africa Cup of Nations finals in Morocco, having joined Gallants from Jwaneng Galaxy in Botswana in 2024.
He netted four goals in 49 appearances (41 starts) for Gallants over the past 18 months, his last goal for the club against Pirates in a 2-1 league victory for Gallants in August.
Chabatsane, 23, is a left-sided defender who predominantly plays in the full-back position, but can also feature at centre-back.
He rose to prominence in the second-tier with JDR Stars where he spent three seasons after making his debut in 2021/22, before joining Gallants in 2024.
He was not a regular in his first campaign, but has been this term and has 34 appearances (27 starts) in all competitions for the club.
He has never managed more than his current 13 appearances in the league in any of his five seasons, but clearly Pirates see him as a player who can develop.
“Orlando Pirates Football Club is pleased to announce the signing of Daniel Msendami and Mpho Chabatsane, as the club continues to strengthen its squad ahead of the resumption of the 2025/26 campaign,” Pirates said in a statement.
“The Buccaneers have reached an agreement with Marumo Gallants for the services of both players, with the transfers concluded on a permanent and immediate basis.
“Following the completion of all the necessary clearances, Msendami and Chabatsane will travel to the North West Province, where the squad is currently in camp and being put through their paces by the technical team as preparations intensify ahead of the resumption of the Betway Premiership season.”
