Kaizer Chiefs defender Aden McCarthy says he is focused on keeping his eyes on the prize as the team pushes for a top-three spot in the Betway Premiership.
The 22-year-old has so far scored two goals in 20 matches in all competitions this season.
He will be hoping to add another appearance to his name when they take on Magesi FC at the moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban.
The defender stresses the importance of a unified vision and treating every match with the intensity of a big game, knowing that even points against lower-ranked sides could be crucial for securing continental football next season.
“I feel like we just all need to have the same vision, and that vision is finishing in the Top three,” McCarthy said.
“No matter what happens with other teams, it’s out of our control, but we can do the best that we can as a whole team together to finish in that Top Three position so that we’re playing Africa again next season.
“I think we should prepare the same way as if it were a big game, like a derby or a Sundowns game, because you might find that all the points you need are in the games of the teams that are at the bottom.
“They are also fighting to be safe for next season. So, I just think the same mentality is needed for all our fixtures. Obviously, the derby is just more than that.”
