Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Mduduzi Shabalala says his hard work is starting to pay off following his Man of the Match performance against Orbit College FC.

Shabalala was in fine form after he scored a double and assisted one goal in Amakhosi’s 4-1 victory over Orbit at the FNB Stadium on Tuesday.

The win sees Chiefs move level on points with Mamelodi Sundowns at the top of the Betway Premiership standings after 11 matches.

The 21-year-old understands that he has not had the best start to the campaign but is working hard to contribute with goals and assists.

“I think I did my job today and everything lies with the coach and any decision I will take it and I will keep on working hard,” Shabalala told SuperSport TV after the game.

“I would like to thank Kaizer Chiefs for giving us the opportunity to play for this big team,” he added.

“I think for me, it hasn’t been an easy season in terms of goals and assist and I’m glad today it came and we managed to score four goals for the first time this season.

“I think it’s what he has been saying and the coaches has been telling me even at the training to say, ‘play for this team and if I’m on song and everyone is going to be on song’ and I’m glad today I got my numbers and hopefully many more will come this season,” he concluded.
