Ethan Chislett has revealed what inspired his return to South Africa after completing a move to Kaizer Chiefs.
The 27-year-old joined Amakhosi at the start of the 2025-26 season as a free agent after parting ways with English side Port Vale.
Chislett has experience playing for the likes of Met Police, Basingstoke, CF Reddis, Aldershot, AFC Wimbledon and Port Vale.
The South African midfielder has racked up 40 goals and 16 assists in 242 appearances across all competitions so far in his career.
However, the attacking midfielder is yet to make his debut for the Glamour Boys since making the move to the club.
“A few people have been asking what inspired my move back to South Africa. It’s similar to why we brought JOGA here,” Chislett said on Instagram.
“Like, you know, we have got a connection here and I’m not sure how much you guys know, but my granddad and dad used to play here.
“I wanted to kind of continue the legacy and build on the legacy, if that makes sense, through JOGA and through my own football career.
“I obviously got the opportunity in the summer to start speaking to Chiefs. There were other clubs, but to be honest with you, it didn’t really faze me.
“It was just a massive, massive achievement and opportunity for me, and one that I’m looking forward to exciting people and bringing what I can on the pitch and off the pitch.”
