Kaizer Chiefs head coach Fernando Da Cruz believes the club’s pre-season training camp has provided a solid platform for the upcoming 2026-27 season.
Chiefs wrapped up their European pre-season tour with a clash against La Liga side Elche on Saturday.
Amakhosi will now shift their focus to the Toyota Cup, where they will face Zimbabwean outfit Scottland in the opening fixture on July 26.
Da Cruz highlighted the squad’s resilience, competitiveness and outstanding team spirit despite enduring extreme heat and a demanding run of three matches in just six days against high-quality opposition.
“The conditions at the training camp were very good despite the extreme heat, which affected us in playing three games in the short space of six days.
“Nevertheless, we were competitive in these matches against high-level teams, which gave us valuable insights to learn from.
“The attitude and team spirit were excellent and we have made good progress in our preparations.”
