Kaizer Chiefs head coach Fernando Da Cruz praised his players’ efforts to grind out a hard-fought victory over Scottland FC.
The Glamour Boys secured a narrow 1-0 win over Scottland FC in the Toyota Cup played at a packed Royal Bafokeng Stadium.
Amakhosi midfielder Mfundo Vilakazi scored the only goal of the match to guide his side to a narrow victory in Rustenburg.
The Amakhosi head coach also reserved special praise for youngster Vilakazi, commending his work rate at both ends of the pitch.
“It was a difficult game because they played two different elevens and have a different physical status than us because they are in season and we are in pre-season,” Da Cruz told SABC Sport after the game.
“I’m very happy with Vilakazi because he worked a lot defensively but he was able to score also.
“It was a difficult week, but today was a collective win and the player who went in helped the player who was in the starting eleven so it’s very important the mindset of our team.”
