AmaZulu have strengthened their squad with two more midfield signings ahead of the re-start of the Betway Premiership next week.

It follows the capture of Zimbabwe international midfielder Mason Mushore last week.

The Durban-based club have now confirmed the arrivals of 22-year-old Luyolo Slatsha from Cape Town City and Brazilian-born Gustavo Lopes, 24, who joins as a free agent.

Slatsha, a central midfielder, said he has been impressed by the environment he has found since joining Usuthu.

“It’s been a very welcoming environment so far. The relationship between the coaches and players is very good, and communication is open and direct,” said Slatsha.

“The standards are demanding, but there is a strong balance in the squad between experienced players and young talent. My immediate focus is to establish myself in the team.”

Lopes previously played for Mozambican side Club Ferroviário de Beira and arrives in the Premier Soccer League after spending just over a week on trial in Durban.

Although unfamiliar to many AmaZulu supporters, he believes he can adapt quickly.

“South African football comes with a lot of pressure and is widely followed beyond the country’s borders,” said Lopes.

“It is good, competitive football. I have been well received since arriving and the club is well organised. The structure is professional and I believe this is a club that can achieve something significant.”
