Bafana Bafana head coach Hugo Broos has given clarification on his standby players ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations.

South Africa have been drawn in Group B in the AFCON, where they will take on Egypt, Angola and Zimbabwe.

Bafana will begin their journey in the tournament against Angola when the two sides meet at the Stade de Marrakech, Marrakech, on 22 December.

Broos has already announced his final squad for the tournament and will have Mduduzi Shabalala, Iqraam Rayners and Thabo Moloisane on standby in case of injuries.

“It is very important that we have players who know that if something happens with injuries or whatever, we can count on them,” Broos said.

“We will ask them to stay in shape and train, and keep in good condition because should something happen, we are prepared.

“So that’s why I have selected these players and will keep them on standby.”
