The Confederation of African football has announced the new dates for the African Cup of Nations (Afcon), with the tournament now set to take place from 21 June to 13 July 2019 after a request from the hosts, Egypt.

The president of the Confederation of African Football (Caf), Ahmad Ahmad, has confirmed that South Africa could step in as hosts of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.
South Africa is the favourite to host next year’s African Cup of Nations (Afcon), which would see Bafana Bafana qualify for the tournament automatically, something that coach Stuart Baxter believes is both a ‘blessing and a curse’.
