Bulls coach John Mitchell has expressed his frustration at a number of the decisions referee Shuhei Kubo made during their 41-28 loss to the Chiefs.

The Bulls had a commanding 28-14 lead at half-time, only to concede 27 unanswered points in the second half and lose the match.

In particular, Mitchell had an issue with the decision not to award scrumhalf Embrose Papier a try as lock Lood de Jager was penalised for obstruction in the buildup.

‘When you go back to the footage, it looked like Lood didn’t even change his line, so that was a huge moment.’

Mitchell also took exception to the fact that the Chiefs received numerous warnings after multiple infringements on their own tryline.

‘They got a double warning, so that was very kind, I think. We tried to persuade the referee, we thought we had him on our side with all the infringements that were going against the Chiefs, and all they got was a warning.’
