Steven Kitshoff is set to earn R27-million from his three-year deal with the Sale Sharks.

The Bok loosehead prop will join the English Premiership club after this year’s World Cup.

While initial reports claimed that SA Rugby and WP Rugby would need to come up with R60-million to keep Kitshoff in South Africa for the next five years, AllOutRugby‘s sources confirmed that he had signed a more market-related £1.5-million (R27-million) deal with Sale over three years.

Sale already have four South Africans on their books – Faf de Klerk, Jono Ross, Rohan Janse van Rensburg and Josh Strauss – and are also hoping to sign the Du Preez brothers – Jean-Luc, Dan and Rob – on long-term deals.
