Dillyn Leyds scores for the Stormers

Dillyn Leyds was the big winner at the Western Province Rugby Football Union awards ceremony on Tuesday.

The 25-year-old wing, in the midst of a stellar season for the Stormers, Western Province and Springboks, claimed two big prizes as he was named Player of the Year and Most Valuable Player. He also won the Composure and Capability award, earmarked for a senior player who thrived under pressure throughout the season.

In other categories, lock JD Schickerling walked away with the coveted Players’ Player of the Year award and was also named Best Forward.

Scrumhalf Jano Vermaak picked up the Best Back award for his consistent performance this year and captain Siya Kolisi the Above and Beyond award.

Flyhalf Damian Willemse was named Most Promising Senior Back and No 8 Jaco Coetzee the Most Promising Senior Forward.
