Tighthead prop Ruan Dreyer is the latest South African to sign for Gloucester ahead of the 2018-19 season.

The 27-year-old will join former Lions teammates Ruan Ackermann, Jaco Kriel and Franco Mostert at the English club, who confirmed Mostert’s signing earlier on Wednesday.

Gloucester have also snapped up South African lock Gerbrandt Grobler from Munster.

Dreyer, who has four Test caps, was omitted from Rassie Erasmus’ 43-man Bok squad for the Test series against England.

He says he is looking forward to developing his game under coach Johan Ackermann at Gloucester.

‘I’m very excited to play under coach Johan again, he is a really good coach, and his people skills are probably among the best of the coaches out there, he’s a people person and he will always put the team and its players first. He will always be honest with you, and you will always know where you stand, that makes it such a pleasure playing under him.

‘I’m looking forward to building myself and test my skills, especially in the tight phases, as it is usually more physical rugby being played in the UK, I’m looking forward to being part of the new squad, especially building a team culture on and off the field.

‘Obviously, it will be nice playing alongside Ruan and Jaco again, and I’m looking forward to meeting my new teammates and all the new characters in the squad.’
