“We’ll show the world we’ll come back stronger than ever” – Du Plessis

Dricus du Plessis says he will come back even stronger after losing his World Middleweight title to Khamzat Chimaev.

Du Plessis came into this fight on an 11-fight winning streak, while Chimaev entered the match unbeaten in 14 fights.

However, Chimaev came out victorious in the bout by unanimous decision to be crowned the new UFC Middleweight champion at the United Center in Chicago.

The South African admits that Chimaev beat him “fair and square”, despite his late surge to retain his title.

“The man has incredible control on top, he’s like a blanket, he always knew what your next move was going to be,” Du Plessis said.

“At the end I went for it and could almost taste that victory but he beat me fair and square, he deserves it and thanks to all the fans because without you guys we don’t have a job.

“Everyone in South Africa, I’m sorry anybody I let down, we’ll show the world that we’ll come back stronger than ever.”
