Bidvest Wits coach Gavin Hunt has revealed that he is already looking for players to sign for the 2017-18 season.

The 52-year-old coach ended the Clever Boys six-year drought without winning a trophy following their 3-0 thumping of Mamelodi Sundowns in the MTN8 finals last week.

Hunt has praised his side’s work during the transfer market following the signing of Thabang Monare, Xola Mlambo, Gabadhino Mhango and Eleazar Rodgers.

‘If you look at team, I think we bought one player and we used the free market [for the rest]. We’ve done well. Our front four [Mhango, Klate, Rodgers and Pelembe] were all for free,’ Hunt said.

‘It’s fantastic work from the board and from Jose [Ferreira].’

Hunt adds that the club are already assessing a few potential signings, who they could get on free transfers, for next season.

However, the former SuportSport United coach revealed that he is already trying to signing players for the 2017-18 season.

‘People are out there looking at the market – what’s in the market? Already we are trying to sign players for next season,’ he added.

‘We will be making a signing or two. That’s important for any football club to have that [foresight].’

When the Absa Premiership returns, Bidvest Wits will take on Ajax Cape Town at Cape Town Stadium on October 26.

Kick-off has been set for 19:30.
