Jomo Cosmos winger Tebogo Tlolane is reportedly heading to Spain for a trial with Spanish giants Barcelona after catching the eyes of the Barca’s scouts.

The 22-year-old, who joined Cosmos from Yebo Yes United in the beginning of the season, has recently caught the eyes of Barcelona scouts and has subsequently been invited for a two-week assessment at the Spanish side.

Tlolane has made a total of 16 starts and six substitute appearances while netting one goal and three assists in the National First Division this season.

The Gauteng-born winger says he is grateful for the opportunity to go on trial at one of the biggest clubs in Europe and insists he is relishing the chance to make an impression in Spain.

‘This is indeed an overwhelming opportunity for me. I am so excited I cannot find the right words to describe my feelings,’ Tlolane told the Jomo Cosmos website.

‘This is going to be my first trip outside South Africa, and I am going there with the mentality of a novice because I believe I still have a lot to learn in the game.

‘It feels so awesome to be given such a rare opportunity to go learn from the best and rub shoulders with my idol Lionel Messi whom I consider to be greatest footballer of our generation.’

Tlolane has credited coach Jomo Sono for giving him the opportunity to prove his worth and quality in the NFD this season.

‘I need to give thanks to my coach and mentor, the great Jomo Sono, who made it all possible by giving me the chance to showcase my abilities in the league,’ he added.

‘But even more importantly, I need to make him proud by making use of this rare opportunity.’

Meanwhile, Tlolane will be joined by Cosmos academy starlet Bafana Tshawe, who is heading to the famous La Masia.
