Mamelodi Sundowns striker Percy Tau believes there are no ‘underdogs’ participating in the latest edition of the Fifa Club World Cup in Japan.

The Brazilians have now become the first team in South Africa to participate in the global tournament in Japan this weekend.

The Sundowns attacking midfielder believes any team can win the tournament but has insists that no team participating in the tournament should be classified as ‘underdogs’

‘Look, I really don’t look at teams in that way [big and small] but, in each and every tournament, any team can win it,’ Tau said.

‘If you believe you can win it then go and do your best and prove it. To be underdogs, I don’t know about that. How can we be underdogs if we’ve just won the Champions League?

‘I think all the teams [at the Club World Cup] are representing their continents, so there’s no underdogs.’

Sundowns will now take on the winners in the match between hosts Kashima Antlers and New Zealand side Auckland City on Sunday., who square off in Yokohama on Thursday (12h30 SA time).

Kick-off has been set for 12:30.
