Premiership giants Mamelodi Sundown have been placed at the summit of FootballDatabase’s continental club rankings.

The Brazilians are currently on a high as they have won all their games to sit top of their Caf Champions League group, while the side also coasted to the Premiership title last term.

Sundowns are now set for the semi-finals of the continental showpiece tournament, having already come out on tops against the likes of African giants Zamalek and ES Setif.

Kaizer Chiefs are the next best-placed South African side in the rankings. The side are currently ranked the eleventh best side in Africa, despite a disappointing domestic season in which they failed to win silverware.

Fellow Premiership sides Bidvest Wits and Orlando Pirates also find themselves among the top 25 on the continent, with the Clever Boys rising to 22 on the database.

Pirates, for their part, have slipped to the 25th spot as memories of their impressive runs in African competition steadily become more distant.
