Premiership champions Mamelodi Sundowns look poised to wrap-up a new kit sponsorship deal with Puma that could earn the club a reported R20-million.

Sundowns have had a long-standing sponsorship deal in place with Nike, but that agreement is set to expire, meaning the club has been on the lookout for new sponsors.

The Brazilians have been sponsored by Puma in the past. The German shoe manufacturer’s logo was adorned back in the 1995 season in which Down finished as runners-up to champions Cape Town Spurs.

Although the deal is virtually in place, there remain several loose ends to resolve before any confirmation of agreement can take place.

‘We are talking about an amount close to R20-million,’ a source told KickOff.

‘But there are a few things that must be sorted out including the marketing side. So we are not sure if the next Caf Champions League match will be played in a Puma kit or not. That will be decided at a later stage.’
