Free State Stars physio Ryan Coert has revealed that midfielder Tholang Lwana is unlikely to feature for his side when they take on Bidvest Wits in the Telkom Knockout Cup on Saturday.

The former Ea Lla Koto youth product is the latest player to be added to the injury list at the club after suffering a serious ankle injury during his side’s 2-1 defeat to Highlands Park in the MultiChoice Diski Challenge on Sunday

The Ea Lla Koto physio has confirmed that the midfielder looks set to be out of action for up to two months while undergoing surgery on his injury.

‘Lwana had a right lateral malleolus fracture [ankle] and he will require a surgery,’ Coert told the Free State Stars website.

Meanwhile, Coert also confirmed that both Mafoumbi and Makhaula are still sidelined with their respective injuries.

‘Other players who are still out injured are goalkeeper Christopher Mafoumbi and midfielder Makhehleni Makhaula is almost there and just need strengthening,’ he added.

Free State Stars will now lock horns with Bidvest Wits in the Telkom Knockout first round on Saturday.

The match at Goble Park Stadium kicks off at 15:00.
