Free State Stars remain confident on keeping new coach Denis Lavagne at the club despite being shortlisted for the Guinea national team job.

The West African country has been without a coach since Luis Fernandez left days before their defeat to Swaziland in the Afcon qualifier in June.

Guinea has since released a 15-man shortlist for the coaching job and amongst the list is Lavagne who was appointed as Stars coach last month.

According to a source Ea Lla Koto remains confident of retaining the services of the French coach.

‘We are well aware of it [interest]. The coach has a contract with us already so it means they [Guinea] will have to buy him out of the contract,’ a source told KickOff.com.

‘No one is worried at the club because he is still with the boys doing what he’s supposed to do. No one is showing any panic signs. The coach is just waiting for his work permit.’

The 51-year-old previously coached the likes of the Cameroon national team and Tunisian giants Etoile Sahel.
