A brace by Jeremy Brockie inspired SuperSport United to a comfortable 4-1 victory over Highlands Park at the Lucas Moripe Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Last season’s top goal scorer, Collins Mbesuma thought opened the scoring for the newly-promoted side in the 17th minute but judged to have been offside.

However, Matsatsantsa broke the deadlock in the 23rd minute when Thabo Mnyamane put the ball into the back of the net from a simple tap-in from close range.

The host lead didn’t last long as the Lions of the North leveled matters eight minutes later when Brendon Theron slotted home from close range from a Thanduyise Khuboni cross.

Veteran striker Thuso Phala found a goal of his own on the stroke of half-time to hand SuperSport a 2-1 lead heading into the half-time interval.

Matsatsantsa made it 3-1 when Jeremy Brockie latched onto a through ball from Reneilwe Letsholonyane in the 72nd minute before slotting the ball home to extend United’s lead

However, Brockie soon completed his brace in the 80th minute when he rose well to head the ball home from a Kingston Nkhatha’s cross to round off the scoring for the home side.
