Free State Stars interim coach Themba Sithole says a lack of concentration cost his side the match following their 2-0 defeat against Kaizer Chiefs on Wednesday.

Ea Lla Koto suffered a 2-0 defeat in their Absa Premiership against the Glamour Boys at the James Motlatsi Stadium.

Amakhosi midfielder Willard Katsande gave his side the lead in the ninth minute after slotted home an early penalty before Mitchell Katsvairo added a second in the 69th minute.

The interim coach insists that Stars played well throughout the match but a lack of concentration cost them the match.

‘I think we lost concentration. Early in the game with the penalty and with the second we lost our markers. When you do that in your defensive third, you concede. That’s where we went wrong,’ Sithole said after the match.

‘The team played very well. They did exactly what we wanted them to do.’

Sithole continued to say that he was delighted with the team’s performance but he insists that they will work on getting more width in the team.

‘We lacked a little bit in the final third. We have to create more chances. We seemed to get a bit tired in the last 20 minutes. We needed more width. We have to work on that, but I’m happy with the performance.’

Free State Stars against Maritzburg United kicks off at 15:30.
