Mamelodi Sundowns have announced that Thapelo Morena and Gaston Sirino have signed new deals at the club which will have them stay with the Brazilians until 2025.

The news comes after the club gave both coach Pitso Mosimane and his assistant new four-year deals and further showed their commitment to success by announcing the contract extensions of two of their stars for the long term.

Sirino has been attracting interest from some of the biggest clubs on the continent as well as clubs in Europe, but has decided to follow his coach in ignoring the interest and remaining at Chloorkop.

The club published the following statement on their website: ‘Mamelodi Sundowns is pleased to announce that Thapelo Morena and Gaston Sirino have put pen to paper and signed contract extensions with the Brazilians. This will see Thapelo and Gaston under contract and in the Brazilian yellow until 2025.

‘This move, which comes on the back of the Brazilians extending head coach Pitso Mosimane’s contract, sees the two superstars commit their long-term future to Sundowns.

‘Morena, who is approaching a full return to fitness after suffering a fracture and ligament damage on his right ankle in a Nedbank Cup last-16 match in February, is optimistic and excited to get back on the pitch.

‘”Masandawana, I’d like to let you know that I have extended my contract with Mamelodi Sundowns, we still have a long way to go! Ka Bo Yellow!,’” said the utility man.

‘Sundowns also moved to secure the services of influential Uruguayan Gaston Sirino, who has signed a five-year extension which will see him at the club until 2025.

‘The little magician, who is approaching 100 appearances for Sundowns, has already added to his winners medals collected in Bolivia, with two ABSA Premiership titles and one TKO crown to his name. The 29-year-old, entering his prime, is confident there is more silverware on the horizon for the Brazilians.

‘“I am happy to extend my contract at the club, me and my family are happy and settled here, so that gives me comfort to push hard on the pitch. I believe my best years are ahead of me, and am confident we will add trophies with this group of players,”’ said the Uruguay star.

‘Mosimane will now look to have his team ready for a return to action following the Covid-19 suspension and will do so having secured the services of several core players in the squad,’ concluded the Downs statement.
