Bloemfontein Celtic coach Lehlohonolo Seema says he rues his side’s missed chances against Ajax Cape Town at the Seisa Ramabodu Stadium on Saturday.

Phunya Sele Sele fell to a 3-0 defeat against the Urban Warriors following goals by Ndiviwe Mdabuka, Prince Nxumalo, and Thabo Mosadi.

Seema admits that his side lacked the ability to keep possession of the ball and learn from their mistakes, while also crediting the Urban Warriors for their performance on the day.

‘Before they got a chance, we had one in the first minute and that has been the story of our life,’ Seema said after the match.

‘In the PSL games today, we must be the team that gave away possession the most, even when Ajax gave us possession, we gave it back to them.

‘Ajax did three things that are supposed to be done – when they didn’t have the ball they tracked back, they kept had runners going forward, when they got to the box, the movement was good.’

Following Musa Nyatama’s missed penalty, Seema believes his side had the quality to come back into the match but could not convert their chances in the final third.

‘The penalty was unlucky, maybe the penalties must be [taken] on the other side [of the pitch]. The only thing I can say is that they tried, we knew we would catch them, but we couldn’t finish,’ He added.

‘Look at the support we had today, we concede three goals and they are still singing, hopefully, we can turn it around.’

Bloemfontein Celtic will next travel to the Orlando Stadium when they take on Orlando Pirates in the Absa Premiership on Tuesday.

Kick-off has been set for 19:30.
